The new Code of civil procedure: will the performance of a judge become more complicated?

Abstract
The article deals with the possible influence of the provisions of the new Code of civil procedure of Lithuania over the day–to–day performance of a Lithuanian judge. Article discloses the intentions of the legislator, while adopting the new Code of civil procedure, analyses relevant changes of judicial practice, expectations concerning the role of a judge during civil proceedings, tries to predict the adaptability of certain legal novelties in Lithuania, taking into consideration the similar experience of foreign states. The article aims to attract attention of a reader to certain aspects that are of the paramount importance while interpreting and applying the provisions of the new Code of civil procedure, searches for the answer if the adoption of the new code will have the positive influence over the length and efficiency of a trial.
