The Influence of European Union Law on Legal Regulations of Pensions

Abstract
The article titled the „Influence of European Union Law legal regulations of pensions“ analyzes the EU law’s impact on the pensions’ maintenance in Lithuania. The latter preparing to become a member of the European Union and the issues related to legal regulations problems are extremely important.
In essence, the main accent in the article is directed towards the analysis of appliance EU Council Regulations’ 1408/71 and 574/72 with respect to pensions. This part of social security of people for migrating within the European Union is very complex. Some aspects in this sphere are not fully regulated by the above mentioned legal acts?
Court of the European Justice has made a number of solutions to fill the existing gaps.
The article covers an investigation of many generally established principles (discrimination with respect to citizenship, insurance and etc.) of the European Union law, which should be applied in Lithuania from the accession. In addition, it includes analysis of some principles (insurance periods’ calculation and etc.), set by the EU Regulations 1408/71 and 574/72 and covers an issue of differences between concepts used in Lithuanian and the EU laws. Moreover, the article emphasizes the necessity of inter-state agreements concerning the social security sphere.
