Abstract

The essential sources of the criminalistics recommendations which recommend how to detect and investigate various kind of crime effectively are the criminal laws, practice of the detection and investigation of the crimes and science.
After the new criminal laws of the Republic of Lithuania namely the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania and the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Lithuania entered into force the practice of crime detection and investigation have changed essentially. The changes in criminal lows and in practice of detection and investigation of the crime also have brought one’s influence to bear on changes in various brands of sciences and in criminalistic too. On of the biggest changes in criminalistics methodology is the definition of crime detection.
Taking into account these changes the article deals with the problematic issues of definition of the crime detection, analysis various definitions of the crime detection which are offered by scientists of various countries. The article points up importance and place of crime detection in the pretrial process of the crimes investigation too.
Having reviewed similarities and differences between the semantics meaning of the definition – „disclose“, „detection“ and „investigation“ the article educes the real meaning of definition of the detection.
Bearing in mind various definitions of the crime detection and the real meaning of semantics definition of the detection, article offers new criminalistics definition of the crime detection which opens much more possibilities to analyze the detection and investigation of the crimes in criminalistic together. Besides, the article covers importance of definition of the crime detection for preparing criminalitics recommendation in criminalitics methodology.
