Offender Profiling – a New Untraditional Crime Investigation Method

Abstract
In this article a new untraditional crime investigation method is presented – an offender profiling which is applied in criminal investigation practice in many countries.
The article for the first time in Lithuania presents the offender profiling method and different stages of profiling are analyzed there: case analysis, which consists of six stages, and the offender profiling process. A criminal profile example has been presented.
Application and organization of the offender profiling method of Germany, Austria and the United States of America is described in the article.
Possibility of the application of the offender profiling method in Lithuania has been analised and some organising recommendations have been proposed.
