Some Aspects of the Rule of Law in the Ancient Greek Mythology

Abstract
The selected topic describes a controversial viewpoint, towards theoretical beginnings of legal government. As far as officially suggested, these ideas were firstly raised in a genuine works of Antic thinkers. But were they original discoverers? In author‘s opinion, there was something before them, which was essential and meaningful for all the people. That was mythology. Running public matters, as well as customary law, of ancient Greek cities, were based on a multi-personal religion. Examples of commitment examples were highly supported in an individual legends and myths of every region – Sparta, Phoenicia, Athens or Mycenae.
Through rapid cultural and economical integration, individual cults were contemporized to an overwhelming structure of “stellar” government and became main spreaders of governing knowledge. That was a cause and that was a way to implement the same model of governance in a real human state. Of course, this goal was never achieved, because the followed sample was fantastic by itself. However, it influenced huge territories for more than five hundred years.
The faith was the supreme standing order of society. Besides the fact that people trusted in gods they also acted according to gods, mostly with sincerest passion. Olympic, Pythian, Nemean games and other interregional festivities proved how deeply natural life was affected by “unearthly organization”. Ancient religion also became a universal legal doctrine for local leaderships to explain the necessity of ancient political movement. Most of believed principles were later transformed into such revolutionary inventions like elections, collegial institutions or citizenship. At the end of the process, this phenomenon was finally determined “democracy”.
During ages science and education emerged like critical opposition to pure Ancient religion. But main ideas of an organized human being remained untouched and undisputed.
These pillars have survived for more than three thousand years as ultimate objectives for every state, which would enjoy to be entitled as “legal”.
