Abstract
The author analyses the rise and development of the institute of enforcement of court judgments in Russia, beginning with the court reform of 1864 till the present. The institute of enforcement of court judgments in Russia has experienced some substantial reforms due to radical time change, that is why its development is very interesting for legal researchers. Court bailiffs in Russia appeared during the court reform of 1864. Bailiff’s activity was based on the territorial principle – districts were divided into regions, in each of which one bailiff operated.
