Abstract

The article presents short characteristics of crime in the Republic of Lithuania during 2001. There are many written articles in which crime in Lithuania is analyzed in various aspects and periods. However, always in each year rises the same question – whats new in criminality? It is a problem – what we can tell new about crime and its alterations in Lithuania during 2001.
The statistical data reported by the Department of Informatics and Communications under the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been analyzed. The author analyzes crime’s aspects: crime rate, its types and territorial distribution, crime detection, prevented crime, alterations of crime indicators during the year and other. The main goal of the research is to find the maximum of alterations, maximum and minimum values of crime indicators.
