Abstract

The article presents a review of Lithuanian system of the utilisation and conservation of natural resources, and consists of three parts. The first part of the article analyses the international and national legal regulation that defines the requirements for the utilisation and conservation of natural resources. The importance of the state role ensuring the proper use and conservation of natural resources is introduced in the light of international legal framework. Types of natural resources are presented in the second part of the article. The ownership forms of natural resource are introduced in the third part of the article. The natural resource ownership can be public, private and general. The underground, internal waters, forests, parks, roads, historical, archaeological and cultural objects of State importance belong by the right of exclusive ownership to the Republic of Lithuania.
