Family functioning characteristics: adolescents and their parents’ attitude

Abstract
The article discusses family functioning characteristics from the piont of view of adolescents and their parents. Research methods and empirical research basis is presented. The methodological criteria of family functioning research instrument applied in the research and tested by empirical and statistical means indicate that psychometrical quality of the test is relatively high.
Empirical research findings indicate gender differences in attitudes of adolescents and their parents towards family functioning. Girls’ responses were more similar to their mothers’ while boys’ evaluations were more similar to their fathers’.
Thus evaluating family functioning gender aspect and tendencies of convergence and divergence were revealed.
