Abstract
The protection of free competition in the market is essential because it has positive effects on enterprises, traders, consumers, and others. Hence, the issue is how to ensure the adequate protection of free competition through the legal and institutional framework. In this regard, I have provided answers from a comparative perspective on the regulation of competition protection in the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Albania. This topic is then further developed by assessing the harmonization of the legislation of these countries with the EU acquis. In order for all the analyses conducted in this paper to be well-founded, the relevant legislation, the role of the authorities, strategic documents, legal doctrines, and other sources have been examined. Finally, the protection of free competition and the concrete actions that must be undertaken by the competent bodies are also assessed. After this topic has been addressed from a comparative point of view, conclusions are drawn.
