Focus and Scope

The major aims of the peer – reviewed multidisciplinary scientific journal “Baltic Environment” are:

  • to promote new approaches of environmental policy and management in different social, ecological and economical contexts;
  • to analyze and assess Baltic region environmental and sustainable development, its problems and solutions, perspectives and challenges;
  • to promote scientific dialogues between  stakeholders: researchers, government, municipality, industry, business, public and non-governmental organizations that manage and have the practical solutions to environmental questions  in the Baltic region.
  • to develop interdisciplinary research in different fields of environmental management and protection.

The biannual peer – reviewed scientific journal “Baltic Environment” publishes original unpublished articles and literature reviews dealing with different environment conservation and sustainable use issues in the Baltic region. The submitted articles are reviewed  by at  least two members of the editorial board or experts in the field of research assigned by the editorial board.

Articles are published in English and Lithuanian.

The journal is the predecessor of annually published research papers “Strategy and Practice of Sustainable Development”, which has been published since 2006.

Peer Review Process

Each article will be reviewed by two members of the Editorial Board or by experts appointed by the Board. Authors should revise the manuscript accepted for publication addressing the remarks of reviewers and editors or provide a substantiated reason why the remarks have been disregarded. The electronic copy of the revised manuscript should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief no later than two weeks after obtaining the review. The letter listing the revisions suggested by the reviewers and the way the author(s) addressed those suggestions should be sent alongside with the revised copy of the manuscript.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
