Abstract

Marginal groups are social groups between different social stratifications. Members of these groups are outsiders in the society. Special attention is paid to the factors of the process of marginalization, which are vital important to social work, i.e. socialization, social isolation and stigmatization. The goal of the social work with marginal groups is to find certain conciliation between the needs of the society and members of marginal groups and to help them become full and equal members of the society. Basic functions of social work with marginal groups are empathy, giving an opportunity, information and mediation.
