Abstract

The article deals with a problem of relationship between school bonding and antisocial behavior in adolescence. The objective of the present study was to identify the associations between school bonding (as defined by attachment to school, negative school environment, safety in school, perceived academic motivation and peer victimization) and three levels of antisocial behavior (as defined by conduct problems, delinquent behavior and severe antisocial behavior) in the subgroups of young and late adolescents as well as boys and girls. The results revealed no differences in mean levels of behavior problems, delinquent and severe antisocial behavior in young and late adolescent subgroups but gender group differences on the all variables of antisocial behavior. The analysis of school bonding revealed no differences on all variables except negative school environment among young and late adolescents as well as safety in the school among boys and girls. Teacher support and peer victimization appeared the most important aspects of school bonding to be associated with antisocial behavior in the adolescents under study.
