Abstract

The paper deals with a problem of innovation in social sector on the level of social services. The experience of a Day Care centre for the elderly was investigated as a case study. There is evidence to suggest that it is innovation and the investigation aimed to light characteristics of innovation process. The data was gathered by interviewing twelve participants of a Day Care centre (e.g. service consumers/end-users) and eight administrators of social care and services at the level of municipality (service managers). The results confirmed that the Day Care centre represents innovation of social service due to its organizational and conceptual characteristics. Four stages of innovation process and factors that influenced the development of the innovation were described.
A study has been done in a framework of EC project PUBLIN.
