##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.main##
Abstract
The paper aims at assessment of the Lithuanian experience related to students‘ internships in municipalities. The article starts with the theoretical introduction into service learning education (via cooperated resources of the universities and their social partners). Then the overview of the study methodology follows. Data from two expert surveys (representing interests and responsibilities of, on one hand, higher education institutions and, on the other hand, municipalities) are presented at lenght. The paper ends with the SWOT (strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis and concludes that the present situation of students‘ internships in Lituania is not beneficial to the country municipalities (and self-government at large) as well that it has some serious flaws from the point of view of education sciences.
