Abstract

As recognition of the importance of entrepreneurship to the economy has increased, the profile of entrepreneurs became an interesting issue to discuss. In order to encourage the entrepreneurship of women, it seems to be necessary to clarify the profile of those entrepreneurs by investigating their parents’ educational level or their jobs as motivating factors. In this study the data were collected from 104 women entrepreneurs and 108 women who are not entrepreneurs, but work in the public sector. The results showed that while women entrepreneurs’ parents and especially their fathers had entrepreneurial status, the fathers of women who are not entrepreneurs, but working in a public firm, had governmental status.
