Abstract

This article presents the findings of a representative study conducted in Lithuania in 2024, exploring patient behaviour, habits, expectations, and choices within the national healthcare system. The aim of the study is to understand how individuals perceive access to and the organization of healthcare services in the context of ongoing reforms and post-pandemic challenges. Findings show that while most residents used healthcare services in the past three years, many experienced issues, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Primary care is the most trusted, but major bottlenecks remain in secondary outpatient care. The study highlights the importance of better coordination, transparency, and integration of services to meet patients’ needs.
Keywords: patient behavior, healthcare expectations, service access, healthcare reform, Lithuania.
