Application of the European Foundation for Quality Management Excellence Model in Higher Education Institutions

Abstract
On the basis of thorough literature analysis and the material of the European Foundation for Quality Management, this article analyses application in the institutions of higher education of one of the quality management models, the EFQM Excellence model, which becomes increasingly popular in Europe. The article focuses not only on theory of the European Foundation for Quality Management Excellence model but also on practice. The development of the excellence model is discussed, model criteria and application stages as well as best practices of the education institutions that have adopted the Excellence model are analysed. The main model application issues and benefits are highlighted and generalized.
