Aspects of University Project Management Maturity Assessment

Abstract
The article emphasizes the importance of project management maturity for the efforts to ensure the quality of implemented projects. The authors analyse different concepts of project organization, provide theoretical analysis of project quality and project management maturity models and state that university can be regarded as a project organization. Based on empirical research results, the assessment of project management maturity of Kaunas University of Technology is provided. The empirical research showed that the most important group of factors, which characterize the level of project management maturity within an organization, is the importance of the implemented projects from the perspective of organizational strategy and needs of its clients.
